CREATE WITH KOAC Workshops

CREATE WITH KOAC (Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre) is a series of workshops designed to connect communities to contemporary artists in a way that gives insight into their practice and creative process, and fulfills KOAC's mission to present and celebrate contemporary art with all audiences. I worked with the KOAC Board and Advisory Committee to bring these workshops online. Physical kits were combined with live video conferencing sessions facilitated by KOAC’s artists-in-residence. The launch workshop, called "Patricia's Wild Weave,” was developed by artist Patricia Lortie. I worked with Patricia and artist James Ziegler on kit contents, and designed the logo program and packaging. As well, I worked with DCFOTOFILM on a promotional 15 second teaser spot for social media. In order to work within a very minimal marketing and production budget, the kit packaging and instruction booklet were designed for economical printing and assembly by volunteers. For the video, I developed a simple storyboard template to guide facilitating artists in shooting their own on-camera footage. Then, worked remotely with DCFOTOFILM, to plug this footage into the standardized template, with graphics and music to complete the spot. Finally, I assisted with pre-launch beta testing in the community.
